The 1 day smile concept refers to the placement of implants and attaching teeth in 1 day. Often referred to as ‘ All On 4’ or ‘Same Day Teeth’ , it is a treatment modality for rehabilitating an entire jaw (or jaws) where teeth are missing or the teeth that are still present are referred to as a ‘terminal dentition ‘(e.g. Extensive periodontal disease where complete extraction of the remaining teeth is recommended).

This clinical solution has been developed to maximize the use of available bone and to allow for the immediate attachment of a full arch bridge and immediate function. Using four implants in each jaw placed in a specific manner, this technique allows the ability to provide a secure and optimal prosthetic support for a fixed prosthetic bridge, even with minimum bone volume.
Some removable dentures (depending on characteristics of jawbone, amount of gum tissue and quality of denture) can force patients to make changes in eating habits, create new choices of what to eat, use special liners to prevent having loose or painful dentures, have difficulties with speech, etc.
The 1 Day Smile concept was developed for those patients who cannot tolerate dentures and their associated shortcomings. We prefer the use of metal supported acrylics as the immediate bridge material. Injection moulded metal supported acrylics are lightweight, very durable and provide excellent aesthetics that can be tailored to suit each individual. They are easily retrievable by a dental professional and inexpensive to maintain, repair and replace
Stages of 1 Day Smile Protocol
Stage 1:
Initial consultation with all necessary x rays and treatment plan formulation. THIS STAGE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PATIENTS. This consultation service is free at Evodental. At this stage we assess the patient’s suitability for this procedure. Once all options have been discussed and the treatment plan agreed then we proceed to Stage 2.
Stage 2:
Initial impressions and bite registrations. The patient, clinical and technical team decide on the size, shape and colour of the new teeth for the hybrid bridge. This appointment takes 1 hour. The patient is then scheduled for their 1 Day Smile appointment.
Stage 3:
All work in this stage is completed in 1 day.
Patient arrives at surgery and is given all necessary pre op medications by a member of the clinical team.
All surgical work, including all necessary extractions, placement of implants and detailed impressions for bridge fitting is taken. This surgery takes approximately 1 hour per jaw and is carried out under local anaesthesia and oral sedation (if necessary).
Approximately 4 hours after the surgical phase, our in-house technical team will deliver the Evohybrid acrylic bridge for fitting. The bridge is fitted and the bite checked and the patient can then leave with a fixed full arch bridge. Post operative instructions and medications are given. The patient can now function with a fixed full arch bridge.
