We are the UK’s leading experts in full mouth dental implants. As such, our expertise and focus on this specific area of dentistry allows us place implants in both standard and advanced areas of the mouth.

2 of these areas are called the ‘Pterygoid’, a bone at the back of the mouth, and the ‘Zygomatic’ region, also known as the cheekbone. Our ability to place implants in these areas allows our patients to enjoy a more stable set of fixed teeth, wider smiles, and also helps to avoid preparatory treatments such as bone grafts or sinus lifts.

What are pterygoid dental implants?

Pterygoid dental implants are placed at the very back of the jaw in the ‘Pterygoid’ region which is a highly advanced technique for which we are Industry Leaders and teach dentists across the world.

The biting force in this region is 10 times greater, and so a strong base here is required. By placing pterygoid implants, space for up to 12 teeth can be fitted, greatly increasing the biting strength for the patient, as well as giving them a fuller smile.

EvoDental routinely place pterygoid implants, and many of our patients have them as part of their ‘smile in a day’ treatment. This is considered an advanced implant technique, and is not something usually carried out in other full mouth treatments such as all on 4.

What are zygomatic dental implants?

Zygomatic dental implants are placed into the zygomatic bone, otherwise known as the cheekbone. Placing implants here allows for a strong bond, and also often negates the need for preparatory treatments such as bone grafts.

Placing zygomatic dental implants is an advanced technique, and EvoDental’s clinical team regularly place them in some of the more complex cases we treat.

If you have been told that dental implants are not an option due to low bone density, we will most likely still be able to help.
