There’s no denying that the impact of our smile in a day dental implants can be life changing for those who have been long-standing sufferers of gum disease. No more embarrassing, loosely fitted dentures or shame around showing off your smile – it can give you the confidence and self-esteem you’ve been going without for so long.

But smile in a day dental implants require maintenance if they are to last you a lifetime – so what do you need to know about caring for your new smile?

Will maintenance ensure my new smile in a day dental implants last forever?

Our innovative smile in a day dental implants are a permanent solution for severe tooth loss, designed to last you for many years. In fact, with the right maintenance they can even see you through the rest of your life – but that means doing more than just attending your routine appointments.

The good news is that each patient who comes to us receives thorough bespoke aftercare, including help, guidance, tools and advice for you to take care of your new smile from the comfort of your own home.

EvoDental’s top tips for caring for your new dental implants

Of course, the first thing to note is that attending all your routine maintenance appointments is important. Not only will a specialist be able to identify any issues and catch problems early, but they can ensure you’re maintaining your teeth properly between visits and offer help if it’s required.

But on top of your appointments, there are other things you should be doing to maximise the lifespan of your new smile.

  1. Using the right tools for the job – as part of your aftercare you will be issued with a Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrush, Waterpik Waterflosser and flossing brushes. This is to ensure you have everything within your arsenal to look after your new smile properly at home.
  2. Brushing properly – to get the very best results from brushing your teeth, it’s important to do it properly. This means not applying too much pressure when brushing and ensuring that you spend around 2 minutes brushing both the teeth and gums.
  3. Replacing your brush head regularly – did you know that you should be replacing your toothbrush head every three to four months? Most people don’t – but outdated toothbrush bristles are much less effective at cleaning the teeth as they become splayed and less able to reach those trickier spots between teeth and along the gum line.
  4. Stopping smoking – if you smoke with dental implants in situ, you’re much more likely to suffer a failed implant. That’s largely down to the effects nicotine can have on the body, reducing the oxygen and nutrient supply to the gums eventually resulting in implant failure.

Although there’s never any guarantee that your new smile in a day dental implants will last you for the rest of your life without issue, taking the above measures can be a great way of keeping them healthy and looking great for as long as possible.
